  • light wind breaker or rain jacket for the occasional sprinkle.
  • sturdy sneakers or hiking boots
  • beach gear if going to visit the cayes
  • sunscreen
  • insect repellent
  • Hat or cap

(As questions arise, we will keep adding to this list, so do check back)

What music equipment and other items should I bring?

  • Your instrument of course!
  • A portable music stand (if you are in chamber or string orchestra)
  • Rosin
  • Suzuki music book, and any other music you received for chamber or string orchestra
  • Metronome (books 4+)
  • Clothes pins or clips to keep your music from blowing off your stand in the wind

Other Travel related questions

  1. International travelers: make sure your passports have at least 6 months from the date you are traveling until its expiration date.
  2. Traveling with only one parent: If you and your child are traveling without your spouse, please make sure that you have a notarized letter of permission from the spouse not traveling with you. The officer at immigration will ask for it. If your spouse is deceased, please carry the original death certificate as well as a copy.
  3. We would like to turn our visit into a short vacation, when should we plan our travel to Belize? Our camp is located in Belmopan which is in the center of the country that boasts many beautiful sites. A trip to the zoo is about 20 minutes from our camp. A trip to the historic mayan site of Cahal Pech is an hour from our campsite at the neighboring town of San Ignacio. We suggest staying an extra 3 days after camp or arriving 3 days prior to explore some of these sites.
  4. Is there a beach nearby? Cayes, which are low-lying islands in the Caribbean Sea are accessible from Belize City via a water taxi or a 10-20 minute flight depending on which Caye you are visiting. Caye Caulker is a favorite destination for families with children and is a 45 minute boat ride from Belize City. If you plan to visit the cayes before camp, taking a flight directly from the international airport in Belize City as soon as you land is recommended. Otherwise, you can make a longer trip after camp ends incorporating  additional adventures like cave tubing and horse back riding in and around our campsite and on your way back to Belize City for your return flight back home.
